Ashtanga Vinyasa

This class is taught by:

Brent Rieli

Brent Rieli has been practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga since the mid 1990’s, enjoying the rewards and benefits offered from an intense practice. Wanting to delve further into the discipline of Yoga and become a teacher, Brent waited until his practice became deeply rooted to build a strong foundation from which to teach. In January 2009 Brent and his wife Sheri founded the Plymouth Yoga Room where they have continued to deepen their practice and help entice an inner peace to all that choose to look for it. Brent and Sheri have also helped to cultivate incredible teachers through their Yoga Immersion Program in an effort to increase the awareness of yoga throughout the community.

I got into yoga originally to help with some of the issues years of swimming  caused to my body. After falling in love with the practice I decided I wanted to deepen my own practice and share my knowledge with others.  Teaching allows me to connect with people by sharing my yoga practice with them while helping them deepen their own, which is one of the most fulfilling jobs I could have.

I found yoga at a time in my life when I was bouncing from one fitness routine to another, looking for the “one” that spoke to me! Just short of my 40th birthday, I realized that I needed something to feed not just my physical body but my emotional/mental body. I found a class and lovely teacher that at the time, was just what I needed. She spoke of turning inward; listening to our breath and trusting ourselves - expressions of self- guidance that were never mentioned by fitness instructors or on a soccer field. I was mesmerized and needed to delve deeper. I practiced regularly for a number of years, until I was interrupted by a serious health crisis, which sidelined me for a time. Fortunately, I had a basic understanding of the power of our breath to support and stabilize us through trying times and so I plugged into my “secret “ weapon! Getting back to my mat was of utmost importance and I resumed practicing as soon as possible. In 2015 I began a journey that continues and has brought me great peace, inner strength and compassion - I completed teacher training at Plymouth Yoga Room. The instruction that was given; the kindness that was shared; the vulnerability that was allowed - all this created for me a space that was safe and welcoming in the practice rooms at PYR. I am thrilled and grateful to be teaching here and hope that you find a safe, encouraging environment in my class, a place where you can deepen your understanding of you! Namaste.

I started practicing yoga on a regular basis in 2009 when Plymouth Yoga Room first opened. The teachers immediately captured me. I also had an indescribable sense of vulnerability that I could not explain nor was something I particularly embraced at that time. I was focused primarily on the physical benefits of yoga and how it challenged by body. But after a severe humeral fracture resulting in hand surgery and restricted movements often taken for granted, I realized my physical body is not what makes me strong. It is finding patience and choosing how to react to challenges. Yoga elicits both of these personal disciplines. Completing PYR’s Immersion Program in 2015 deepened my practice and created in me a particularly fondness for meditation. Yoga has taught me to be more present, to be in this moment, and that each day is a choice. I am grateful to guide you in the beautiful practice of yoga and learn how it has influenced your journey. Namaste, Ronda

I dabbled around with yoga, visiting various studios or gyms for quite a while. It wasn’t until I moved to Plymouth and began practicing at the Plymouth Yoga Room that I fell in love with yoga. The vibe at PYR is so welcoming and loving that I instantly felt drawn to continue my practice there. However, I didn’t really find my deeper connection until after I became very sick. Once out of the hospital and on the road toward healing, I made yoga a priority. I definitely wanted to get back to it for the physical benefits (I was beyond weak and out of shape after my time in the hospital) but I also needed more. I needed a way to let go of my stress and worries, something to give me a sense of peace. I decided to take a leap and signed up for the yoga immersion program through PYR in the fall of 2016. It was one of the best choices I’ve ever made. The program helped me to deepen my practice. It helped me to truly find the connection between my mind and body. Yoga not only helps me to stay strong and flexible physically, but also mentally and emotionally! Even if I’m just on my mat for 60 minutes out of the entire day, I always leave feeling better and I know that my time was well spent. I love that yoga is a practice and therefore one is never done learning. I constantly feel my yoga practice evolving. My hope as an instructor at PYR, is to share my love and passion for yoga while helping others to find their place of comfort, strength, and inner peace.
Shortened version of the Primary series. A specific flow of postures to build internal heat, burn toxins, improve health and flexibility. Great for beginners and advanced students alike.
